Ok for the final stop for our first day at CES, we headed into the TiVo press event. TiVo had just announced two new Hardware partnerships DirectTV and Sony. This is added to their current partnership with Philips.

That's the DirectTV TiVo unit on the far left, the Philips unit is in the middle, and the Sony is the one on the right.

One thing that was mentioned at the conference was that Sony had some how bettered the existing remote. I didn't get a chance to play with it. (Hint to Sony!)

The DirectTV offering will capture and store the digital stream without having to first convert it to analog, offering a better picture.

Other partnerships announced today include Blockbuster Inc. and Liberate.
Blockbuster and TiVo are working together to develop and deploy a "video on demand like service".  I'll post that press release just as soon as I get back to the office.
