From here it was off to the Hilton hotel to get a look at the best in home theater high-end gear, and audio equipment. Once there the first booth I noticed was the Runco booth. No pictures can describe what was inside, a complete home theater with all the bells and whistles including four rows of seating for around 20+ people. Two different top-of-the-line projectors, CAT audio products (somewhere around a dozen speakers, with two subs), monster cables, and a few other partners made the room really rock

Then Dolby's booth caught my eye (and then my ears). Dolby was introducing and demonstrating Dolby. Dolby Headphone is a unique signal-processing technology that lets you enjoy multi-channel sound sources, such as movies, with realistic surround sound over conventional stereo headphones. The sound was remarkable to say the least, and recreated the imaging of 5.1 with normal headphones very well. For more on Dolby Headphone visit www.dolby.com

There where many different new speaker announcements at CES as well. Like this new line from API (they make Mirage Speakers as well) called Athena, that features a very cool mounting system that attaches the speaker to a matching sub using only an innovative bracket as a connector. Look ma less cables! you can take a look for yourself at www.athenaspeakers.com.

For a parting "shot" or picture if you will here, guess who was signing autographs in the cybergenie booth? If you guessed the genie herself Barbara Eden then you would be right!

Until next year, Yanman live signing off!

One of the other major new sound products were THX Surround EX receivers like the one below from Marantz. If you have heard the term 6.1 kicked around this it.
