 Los Angeles, Calif., August 10, 1999 -- BBC Video kicks off its DVD line in North America with the release of Wallace & Gromit The First Three Adventures. Created by British animator Nick Park of Aardman Animations, Wallace & Gromit are the lovable clay-animated stars of the world-renowned Oscar  winning films The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave and the Oscar nominated A Grand Day Out. The three films plus never-before seen early work, a Wallace & Gromit BBC Christmas Promo and an excerpt from the ’making-of’ featurette, ”Inside the Wrong Trousers” will be available on DVD from September 28, 1999, priced $34,98 S.R.P. Pre-book is August 25, 1999. BBC Video is released through CBS/Fox Video and distributed in the U.S. and Canada by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Three-time Academy Award winner Nick Park shot to fame in 1991 when two of his films were nominated for an Oscar in the same year; Creature Comforts and A Grand Day Out. Creature Comforts won the Oscar that year, and two additional Oscar wins followed for The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave, Featuring the endearingly awkward Wallace, a madcap inventor, and his long-suffering canine companion, Gromit, Nick Park’s films have delighted audiences, of all ages and from all walks of life around the world, making the Wallace and Gromit films one of BBC Video’s best-selling properties in the U.S. In 1997 Her Majesty the Queen made time in her busy schedule to visit Aardman Animations, the studio based in Bristol, south west England. Also, Park was recently included in the prestigious Queen’s Birthday Honors List, awarded by Her Majesty with the title CBE – Commander of the British Empire. Aardman Animation’ genius will receive even greater awareness with the Summer 2000 release of their first feature-length film, Chicken Run. 

For the first time ever in the U.S., the animated adventures of Wallace Gromit will be available on DVD, in an exclusive release which also includes rare footage of some of Nick Park’s earliest animated works; ”The Rat and the Beanstalk,” made when he was just fifteen years old, and ”Walter Goes Fishing.” The DVD also features rarely-seen screen-tests of Nick Park’s film-school work, including ”Dog Test” and a test of ”A Grand Day Out.” In addition, Wallace & Gromit The First Three Adventures features an excerpt from the ”making-of” featurette ”Inside the Wrong Trousers” and a Wallace & Gromit Christmas interstitial created for BBC television.

A Grand Day Out
Suddenly finding himself cheeseless, Wallace goes truly ballistic, flying his home-made rocket to the moon with Gromit in search of his favorite snack.

The Wrong Trousers
A new lodger, a mysterious penguin, presses Wallace’s latest gadget, a pair of mechanical pants, into use in a dastardly crime caper!

A Close Shave
Sheep rustling, love and an evil guard dog ensnare Wallace and Gromit in a malevolent mystery only they can unravel!
