The Room

Although a "starter" or small Home Theater can fit just about anywhere. Housing all of your "complete" or large Home Theater equipment can take more space than your living room or den can provide. So now that you’ve decided to take the ultimate plunge, (A separate theater room) what is needed to meet this need? Most people that decide to have a separate theater room simply start by moving all of there Home Theater equipment to an extra bedroom or den. The next level is usually moving the equipment to the basement (finished or otherwise). The finally and more complete solution is to build (Finnish the basement, or make modifications to that bedroom/Den) the Home Theater into a room. For a front projection type of theater, some construction (hanging the projector and screen) is required regardless of the room type you provide.

To help with any size Home Theater project we have included some sample specs for room size, power, cooling, and some miscellaneous stats. Please note that your needs may be different, and that building codes, and power requirement vary from state to state and country to country.
