“The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with
someone else when you're uncool.”
There are movies that just deserve another look, make it longer, make it better, and as long as this work is supervised by the director, why not? But some people prefer to see it the way it was released in the theater. Often this version is shorter and more to the point then its lengthy counterpart the “director’s cut”. Well with this “Bootleg Cut”, you can have you cake and eat it too, because offered here is both an extended version and its original theatrical counterpart. We won’t go into gory details about the film, because it has been reviewed here on the site before. If you want a low down on the film itself, check out our original review. The video quality and the audio quality are both excellent, but leave one question wide open. Why is a DTS soundtrack only offered on the original theatrical version and not on the bootleg cut? As for what has been added here, there are more extras, more movie and the coolest add on of all (at least in our opinion), a complete CD of Stillwater songs (Six in all). For anyone that might not know director Cameron Crowe is married to Nancy Wilson of Heart fame, and she wrote the songs that Stillwater sings throughout the film. If you are as big of a fan of this movie as I am you already own the original DVD, and are just here looking to see what is new and whether or not it is worth upgrading to this new offering. Plain and simple, this is the version to own, if you have a copy of the previous release give it to a friend, you’ll both be glad you did. Sing with me now…tiny dancer…
