Jennifer Lopez stars as a tuff gritty Chicago police officer, that ends up love struck for her rescuer. A stretch for Lopez, no more like a formula, she played a police office in Out of Sight, and has had love interests in most if not all of her films. Does this one stand out? Not really, perhaps that is why it missed at the box office. Good “cuddle, date” film, but not much more, the DVD is of just average quality as well.

Office Sharon Pogue (Lopez) is a tough female in a really harsh neighborhood. None of her training has prepared her for her encounter at the end of a scumball’s handgun. Lucky for her, or is it fate that her mystery savior (Jim Caviezel) is there to save her. After finding out the truth about her mystery man’s identity can she return his favor and save him from his haunted past?

This DVD offering ranks as average in both the Audio and Video departments. Audio is offered in Dolby Digital 5.1 that is lackluster more because of the content of the movie rather then the mix itself. The widescreen anamorphic video shows some dirt and grain in the darkest scenes, but otherwise provides great overall color and saturation.

What kind of extras do you look for? The one and only extra here is one of our favorites, a feature-length commentary by directory Luis Mandoki, but one extra does not “Special Features” make. One Star only here.

Sometime the box-office receipts are no judge of a movies true artistic/entertainment value. In this case however the box-office may be a fairly good judge of the films worth, just short of its mark. Still, Lopez and her co-star do have a good chemistry and couples will enjoy this one together from the sofa. Single guys should just stick to watching J-LO’s music videos instead; there is a lot more heart pounding action there.
