Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me

DVD Review by Yanman

"Those are skin tight, how do you get into those pants?" " Well you can start by buying me a drink."

"Get your Mojo working, baby yeah!" Part two of the Austin powers series is certainly funnier then the first yet also a bit more silly and with more "potty" humor. One recommendation here would be that if you haven't seen Austin Powers International Man of Mystery then see it first, if you have you may want to watch it again just prior to viewing the new one. This DVD is packed with literally hours of extras. If you buy only one DVD this year then buy The Matrix, if you buy two then get Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me.

Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) is back from the cold of space to try and take over the world. In order to accomplish his Evil plan however, he needs to stop Austin Powers (Mike Myers). But how do you stop the international man of mystery? You travel back in time in what we like to call a "Time Machine" and steal his Mojo.

After traveling back in time to 1969, Dr. Evil enlists the help of Fat Bastard (Mike Myers) to steal the Mojo of the still frozen Powers. In order to get his Mojo back Austin must also travel back in time to 1969 and enlist the help of the beautiful Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham) defeat Dr. Evil and his sidekick Mini Me (Verne Troyer), and return to the future.

The Anamorphic Widescreen video is very, very clean. There were no noticeable artifacts or flaws. The layer change, which happens at 1:24:36, is hidden during a fade to black and is totally undetectable.

The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio completely fills the room. The bass response is phenomenal in some of the scenes and will definitely give your sub a workout.

The New Line Platinum Series has always set the standard for DVD extras, and Austin Powers the Spy Who Shagged Me is no exception. This DVD has hours of extras, just to name a few, there is a hilarious Comedy Central Canned Ham: "Spygraphy : The Dr. Evil Story", Three music videos, almost 20 minutes of deleted scenes, and much more (See the side bar for the complete list).

If you liked Austin Powers International Man of Mystery, then The Spy Who Shagged me will not disappoint you. Fire up your VW bug, jump into your time machine, and get ready for a groovy trip to the 60s, yeah baby yeah!
