DVD Review by Yanman

"They're creepy and the kooky, mysterious and spooky, they're altogether ooky…The Adams Family"

Ok now snap your fingers twice at the chorus and sing along. Anyone who grew up in the 70's must remember the Adams Family TV show from that era; it is as much a classic as Gilligan's Island (I wonder where the movie remake of this is?). That mixed up family is just as crazy as it every, and is still up to its old tricks. Just the mention of the character names Thing, Lurch, Cousin It, Uncle Fester, etc. kept taking me back in time to the original series, even if this story was a little lacking if standing on its own merits. Overall, video and sound quality is good, but there is a complete lack of extras.

Tully Alford is the Adams family Lawyer, they currently are his only clients, but are very rich clients indeed. Unfortunately, he owes a lot of money to Abigail Craven, and has no means to pay her back that is until they launch the hair brained scam. You see for 25 years Gomez Adams (Raul Julia) has been looking for his long lost brother Fester (Played Brilliantly by Christopher Lloyd) and it just so happened that Abigail Craven's son is a dead ringer for him.

Under the guise of actually being Fester trapped all these years in the Bermuda Triangle, he attempts to infiltrate the Adams family, win there confidence, find the secret vault, and steal all the treasures within. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong, you see to be a real Adams, you can't just go in and act normal that would be weird, no to fit in you have to act really weird, that would be the most normal. As time passed this Fester impersonator realizes that he does fit in here, more than he ever has in the "real world" and maybe betraying these people is not in his best interests for the future.

Sound quality is over all very good, with some scenes much better that others, take a look at chapter 8 entitled "Dead Man's Curve", the train wreck here might really be enough to "wake the dead" pun intended.

The Anamorphic widescreen picture looks good, but does have some graininess in places. Single sided, single layer (SSSL)

Where are the extras? Not here I assure you. Now I know that going back and adding extras to discs can be a expensive and/or time consuming task if they don't exist. Nevertheless, why not at least throw the MC Hammer "too legit" video on here? I'm sure he could use the publicity right about now. Alternatively, how about some of the original TV shows segments, outtakes, or trivia? Come on Paramount get with the program!

The casting here is great with unbelievable performances by Christopher Lloyd, Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christina Ricci, and the CGI hand of Thing. If you loved the TV show in the past, you're bound to get nostalgic watching The Adams Family, it serves up all the tricks and the treats.
