"I'm too old to baby-sit." Now name all the things that can go wrong while you're babysitting, OK now think some more, now double it, and you are about half way to the amount of trouble that these three kids and their babysitter (Elisabeth Shue) get into in just one night. Here is living proof that average video, below average sound, and a total lack of extras can't rune a good movie, I still totally enjoyed this DVD. When Chris Parker's (Elisabeth Shue) date cancels on her at the last minute, she can't think of anything that could be worse. So when the news come that she is convinced to babysit Sara Anderson, she figures why not get paid for a night of TV and boredom. When her frantic friend Brenda calls from a bus station looking for a ride home because she has just ran away from home, she is forced to take Sara, her brother Brad, and his friend Daryl and head into the big unfriendly city (Chicago). Nevertheless, Murphy's Law is definitely running rampant here the list of thing that go wrong is amazing. Here is just a partial list of "unfortunate circumstances": flat tire, manic truck driver, gunshots, car stolen with them in it, mafia hit men, angry Jazz guitarist, gang fight, and a death defying little girl scaling the side of a skyscraper. And this is just to name a few. Will they make it home alive? Will they find Brenda? Will their parents catch them? Presented in non-anamorphic letterbox at a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, the video here leaves a lot to be desired. There are many places throughout the DVD where dirt flecks and scratches are visible (this is not what we were looking for when we said that we wanted to see movies just the way they were presented in the theater), and the entire picture looks soft. Better than VHS? Yes. The audio is presented in 2-channel Stereo (Dolby Surround) and sounds OK. Extras? Nope. Extra? No again. Now if you're babysitting a bunch of kids and want to watch a movie, and the "stop or I'll kill the babysitter" movies are not appropriate, then this one is a definite winner. That's all for now, I've got to run it's almost 1am and the truck driver with the hook is after me, so I had better get home now…ya think?
