"God Bless the Internet!" Many movies have changed our thoughts or opinions on certain things. Saving Private Ryan - World War II, JFK - The Kennedy assignation, and Apollo 13 - The Us Space Program. American Pie will change your thoughts on sex, beer, and just how much you really love your favorite dessert. This Unrated version on DVD looks and sounds very good and has enough extras to keep you busy for many hours in the future. Do you remember what it was like to be a teenager in high school and a virgin? Well Jim (Jason Biggs) is like every normal red-blooded American male virgin at his age, he is desperate. Since his parents have little respect for his privacy and his dad (Eugene Levy) sexual education is really no help, something has to be done. Therefore, Jim and three of his virgin friends make a pack to get laid at all costs prior to the end of the school year (as if that will help any) and to help each other out if they can. The comedy of errors here are numerous from an intimate encounter with "baked goods" to a major league botched attempt at an Internet cam show. Will these guys ever get to the main event, and if they do how badly will they screw it up? With prom night right around the corner these four are running out of time quickly, will they go on to collage as men or as total losers. Video quality here is flawless, a clean and artifact free transfer. Presented in Anamorphic Widescreen 1:85:1. The layer change at 1:17:11 is a little more noticeable then some of the DVD's we have seen, it is at the end of a scene and no dialog or music is interrupted. The 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack sounds good, but is not utilized to its fullest degree due to the nature of this film, still every now and again the music does fill the room. Extras, Special features that what makes this UNRATED version a true Collector's Edition. With nearly a dozen or so extras on here and even more if you have a DVD-ROM drive on your PC, to watch all of these will take literally hours. Rated or not, American Pie is this year's number one "teen comedy" and is in the league of such timeless classics as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Farris Bueller's Day Off, and Porky's. If you ready to laugh, spin up this DVD, but if go over to Jim's house to watch it pass if he offers you the apple pie.
