For starters let me say in no uncertain terms run, do not wait to pass go and collect $200.00, to your nearest DVD store or online service and buy this disc. NOW. It is the baddest around. Ok we know the story, a meteor the size of Texas is headed towards Earth and somehow the scientists here at home and abroad must formulate a plan to stop the mass destruction of this place called home . Now as usual we are not prepared and all weapons of mass destruction are worthless against this beastie from space. So where does one turn when we need to blow up some stuff whether on Earth or in space ??? Yes Bruce Willis !!!! He can do it and save us all once again. Or can he ? Bruce and his rag tag team are oil rig workers better known as Rough Necks are in the middle of the ocean doing what Rough Necks do when NASA determines they need him to save us from a big rock about to fall on our collective heads. (Well this is one way to do in Saddum) Anyway the Rough Necks are brought to Houston and trained for space travel where they will learn about how to land on the meteor, drill a big hole and dump a nuke 800' below the surface of the rock blowing it into one or more segments thus allowing it to pass by the Earth safely. Remember here that the weapon must be placed well below the surface or nothing good will happen. This movie is action from start to finish and never lets up. By the end I was tired and spent from dodging little bits of asteroid and the G forces from traveling around the moon at about 22,000 miles per. There in humor here and love story that has some neat twists. I really shan't go into the movie too deeply as I would give away the little details that make it special so just let me say AWESOME ! There is not much in the way of extras except the Aerosmith video for the song "I don't want to miss a thing" but that is ok. The 1 thing that fries my cookies is that lack of choices in viewing format. It is presented in widescreen only and this will completely turn off those with televisions under 35" or so. It is really wide. Never the less this disc is a must have. Visually and sonically it is just plain stunning.
