DVD Review by Yanman

"Your one of them aren't you? . . .No I'm something else."

Blade is born from the comic book world, a world of action, a world intrigue, and a world of make believe. The world that Blade comes from is a world inhabited by vampires, some of them pure breeds other ripped from our world by a violent bite on the neck transforming them into creatures of the night. But, Blade is different half man; half-immortal he has sworn to rid the earth of this evil breed.

1967, a cold hospital, a woman pregnant woman screaming, not from the pains of childbirth, but from massive neck wounds. The woman dies, but the baby lives. The vampires bite effects the baby in a strange way, he is neither man no vampire, but a new breed known as a "daywalker".

Fast forward 30+ years to the present, a woman picks up a guy off the street and takes him to an underground "rave". This John Doe thinks everything is cool right up until the blood starts pouring out of the sprinkler system, and then things start to get weird. Enter Blade (Wesley Snipes) to save the day, wielding a sword, machine gun, silver spikes, and an S shaped throwing blade to vaporize the demons at play.

Here is something you might want to know about vampires, just in case you intend on hunting them, just because you set them on fire doesn't mean they die. No, in fact, Blade torches one pretty good sending him to the morgue only to have him get up and bite the lovely hospital technician, Karen Jenson (N'Bushe Wright) on her lovely neck. Once again it's Blade to the rescue, but does he make it on time? He takes Karen back to his lair, to have Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) his mentor; guardian and fellow hunter of the night try his magic at bringing her back to the land of the living. He is able to revive her, but only for a short time, she must attempt to complete the process on her own.

The battle between Blade and the Vampires collimates when he has to face the blood-thirsty Deacon Frost (Stephen Frost) an evil immortal lord that is at odds even with some of his own kind. Deacon declares war on the human race and masterminds a plan to "turn" all humanity into vampires. Blade is humanity's final hope to avoid extinction.

The video is outstanding on the disc, first class end to end. The reds of, well you know this is a vampire movie, are vibrant, and the dark scenes are jet black. No errors on this disc just crisp clean video through out.

The audio is also stellar perfect Dolby Digital through and through. Non-stop fill the room action packed sound fills the room, start to finish. Moreover, I really liked the musical soundtrack as well it really added something to the already heart stomping action.

Extras? Not just a hand full but a boat load, I count at least twelve extras (I don't count trailers)(8 regular, and 4 PC DVD-ROM), making this one second only to Lost in Space in shear numbers of extras, (Also New Line Platinum Series) we have reviewed.

If you're ready to kill some vampires, then start up the Charger, load up with silver bullets, bring you acid etched titanium sword along for the ride, and get ready to watch Blade.
