"Hi, how you doing, is this really a police station?" As a big time diamond thief Miles Logan (Martin Lawrence) is in a bit of a mess, you see while he was in the process of stealing a $20 million dollar jewel, his partner freaks out on him. Before he gets caught though, he hides the rock in a construction site. Now for the hitch, when he gets out of jail that construction site has turned into, now get this, a police station. With a choice of high quality widescreen or full screen video on one side, a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack that really rocks, and a number of extras this DVD is a streak you don't want to miss. After getting out of jail after a two-year prison sentence Miles Logan decides that the only way to get back the diamond he stole (Valued at $20 million dollars) is to march right into the building he hid it in and take it back. The problem here (and what makes this a comedy) is that the building that was under construction two years ago when Miles hid the diamond in the air-conditioning system is now a LAPD station. When his first attempt to sneak in, as ghetto Buck the pizza delivery boy, fail there is only one logical solution. This crook must impersonate a detective, sneak into a highly secure building, snag the diamond out of the ventilation system (If he can find it), and sneak out undiscovered (OK so maybe it's not so logical). Something strange happens on the way to accomplishing that goal however; he starts to enjoy playing cops and robbers from the other side of the game. And why not? Where else can you arrest and shoot at old friends, get promoted to lead detective, drive like a maniac, teach the cops a lesson or two, and most of all stay out of your ex-partners sight and reach? The video here is offered in both an anamorphic widescreen version and a full screen "re-formatted to fit your TV version." These are both offered on one side of a RSDL disc. This should satisfy both the "I want to see it the way the directory shot it" crowd as well as the "please fill my entire screen bunch." The video here looks very good, with only limited very hard to find video flaws, and these appear to be inherent to the master. The audio is in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, and is a very active soundtrack, with music and gunfire coming from all directions. There are a limited number of extras here including, three music videos, a HBO First Look: Inside & Undercover, and a Featurette: Setting Up The Score. There could have been more here though I'm sure, I mean where are the outtakes, you just have to know that with comedic talents like Martin Lawrence and David Chappelle there must be at least one or two funny moments that didn't make the final cut. If you like Martin Lawrence's style of comedy, or have seen this one in the theater and liked it, then movie gets the nod to add to your collection. Fire up your DVD player, get ready to enjoy, oh, and if you live in a building near a recent jewel heist you may just want to check your ventilation system, you never know what you may find.
