Danger, Will Robinson, danger!!! Based on the TV series of the same name from the 60's, "Lost in Space " is a Swiss Family Robinson type story placed amongst the stars. In the year 2058 humanity has almost used up all the Earth's natural resources, so what's our solution? Move to another planet of course! Led by their father, Prof. John Robinson (William Hurt) the entire Robinson family is prepared to be launched into a space to set up a "Portal" between the earth and "Alpha Prime" the only known inhabitable planet in our galaxy. In the first of many twists, the pilot scheduled to fly the ship is killed, and a new one must be found quickly so enter the very reluctant major Don West (Matt Lablanc) to play "Baby sitter" and pilot to the mission. When a saboteur is accidentally caught on board (Gary Oldman) the Jupiter2, and the robot goes crazy sending the ship of course, the crew is forced to use their hyper-drive without to required Portal to guide them, leaving the crew "Lost in Space". While flying around lost the Robinson's have to deal with a strange ship, giant metal spiders, a desolate planet, and the implications of time travel. Will they find they way back to earth? Or to Alpha Prime? Or will the Robinson's forever be "lost in space"? This disk is a definite winner. The video is of the highest quality with good color separation, even the dark space scenes (which are numerous) are clear and defined. I found no artifacts or flaws in this one. This is what 5 star video should look like. The Dolby Digital 5.1 sound track helps to make this one this movie a "must hear" The bass during the launch sequence really rocked the house, don't try this in a apartment unless you invite the neighbors. We give this one 4 stars. Just to list the extras on this disk could take many pages. My quick count puts the list of extras 18 or so! WOW! Now in order to use some of these you must have a PC DVD-ROM drive (Not a CD-ROM drive or in a MAC), but even without a computer this DVD has more extras than any we've seen. Extras like 2 audio commentaries, music video, a synopses of all the original TV episodes, deleted scenes, an interactive game, 2 featurettes, and more (see complete list at the right). Add to this the list of PC Enhanced extras and web links and you'll see why this disc wins our "best extras" award. If your ready to leave the real world behind, don't just get lost in a
movie, get Lost in Space.
