" I feel so vulnerable …" Sequels have often gotten a bad rap in the past, to the point where at one time no one would believe that a sequel could surpass its predecessor. While there have been one or two exceptions to this rule, Nutty Professor II does nothing to disprove it. Eddie Murphy's multiple acting roles are one bright and funny point to the movie, but the plot is so contrived that nothing can save this one. When professor Sherman Klump's (Eddie Murphy is the entire Klump Family) new love life with DNA specialist Denise Gains (Janet Jackson) is threatened by his obnoxious alter ego Buddy Love (also Murphy), he is forced into tasking drastic measures, he separates "Buddy's bad DNA" from his own. The unpredictable affect that this has on the professor is the lost of his superior intelligence. Will he be able to combine his DNA with Buddy's in time? Or will he lose everything he has worked for? The audio quality and video quality of this DVD are both about average, with nothing to really set them apart, but also nothing to distract from the film either. Present in anamorphic widescreen and in the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1, the video here does contain a number of background artifacts and film grain. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, and is heavily center channel biased. While this is for the most part due to the nature of this type of movie (talking head comedy), more could have been done here. Surprisingly there are a decent amount of extras here, not bursting with, but better then average. Extras include a Making of, a feature length commentary, an interview with the director, deleted scenes, makeup overview, outtakes, and more. Only one real extra missing here that we would have loved to see, somebody asking the writer "what the heck were you thinking?" We get lots of letters about reviews like this one, yes we are sure that some people will find this one funny, if you do great buy and enjoy. For the rest of you don't bother. Oh and as a reminder, or star rating is on disc quality and not about the movie, because this one would be low on that scale for sure. Here's hoping that we never have to review Nutty Professor III…unless Jerry Lewis is in it…
