It is a story that is well known and often told, it is the story of courage against all odds, the story of Moses. In this movie that "Built DreamWorks Pictures", the artists involved have created a truly epic animated adventure. Filled with amazing visual story telling, Academy Award winning music, and voiced by some impressive talents The Prince of Egypt is a history lesson that makes learning entertaining. This one may be too intense for the very young or if you're not prepared to completely discuss all of your religious beliefs with them. I won't even make an attempt at reviewing the content of this film. It is almost straight from the Bible, and to critique it any level, in my opinion, would be wrong. The video here is great, crystal clear, and the vivid colors come shining thru. At one point during the director's commentary the "direction team" of Brenda Chapman, Steve Hickner, and Simon Wells make a comment to the fact of how clear this DVD looks. I promise you won't be disappointed. This is the best layer change I have seen yet it occurs at 01:09:09 but without a DVD player that tells you where the layer change happens you'll never know. The Dolby Digital 5.1 fills the room with sound. Ever wonder what the parting of the Red Sea would have sounded like from the inside? Well now you'll know! There are boatloads of extras here, and I loved every one from the director's commentary to the sneak preview of upcoming films. Favorite extra here, has to be the Multi-Language presentation of "When You Believe", a well-melded sample of what happens when you have to record a movie in 28 different languages. Truly a joy to the eyes and ears. Definitely not a cartoon, and even more than just a animated feature, The Prince of Egypt is truly a work of art destined to be enjoyed by the whole family for years to come. Get in your chariot and race right out and purchase this one today!
