"And the winners are ..." Yes this year we decided to do something different then last years top 10. This year in addition to our top 10 ten list, we also have done awards style categories: Best Comedy, Best 2-Disc Set, Best Boxed Set, Worst Movie, and Best Movie. Top 10 2005 Here they are the top 10 DVDs released in the year 2000. Now remember these were released in the year 2000, so the movies may be from any year. 10. Fight Club -One of the best descriptions we have heard of Fight Club was along the lines of "It was the best acted, good story line, interesting plot twists, movie that I have ever seen and yet I still didn't like it." We think many people may end up feeling this way, and for many different reasons. 9. Jurassic Park - Lets face it there are a few movies that really don't need a lot of introduction. Most people have seen the 1993 mega-hit Jurassic Park it is almost a given. 8. Braveheart - While the video quality is poor, and the sound and extras are just average, fans of the movie should not hesitate to add this to their "must owns" list. 7. Se7en New Line Platinum Series - Se7en is an amazing film and it elicits a response from everyone that has seen it. While everyone agrees that the movie has great writing with superb acting from an all-star cast and a very powerful message the question still remains, "What do you really think of the movie?" 6. Fantasia 2000 - This update of Walt Disney's masterpiece, was originally only shown in IMAX theaters, and the attention to detail, is obvious in this digital to digital transfer. 5. The Sixth Sense - This suspenseful thriller is well acted right up to its surprising end. Can a twelve-year-old give the performance of a lifetime? It will be very hard for Haley Joel Osment to top his Oscar nominated performance in the future; of this, you can be sure. 4. American Beauty - We will just say this, it is everything that has been said about it, and so much more. If you haven't seen it, run out and get the DVD now! You won't be disappointed. 3. The Toy Story Ultimate Toy Box - What happens when you take two great movies, transfer them to DVD, package them together with a third disc chock full of extras? Well if the two movies are Toy Story, and Toy Story 2 by Disney and Pixar, you go from having a set of hit movies, to having a DVD collection that is a must have. 2. MIB Exclusive Limited Edition - Since the beginning of DVD collecting, movie aficionados have prepared a mental list of the films that they would most like to have on the format. For many, the film that has remained near the top of their list, MIB, is now available after years of waiting. 1. T2 The Ultimate DVD - While the original DVD version of the film was good, there were volumes of information; a complete special edition was available with deleted scenes added in sequence, among others. This is a must have, and has floated to the number 1 position of all of our Top 10 DVD lists. This year saw many of the funniest movies released on DVD. And the nominees are - Scary Movie, Airplane!, Galaxy Quest, The Princess Bride, and Spaceballs. And the Winner is... the envelope please ... Airplane! Different from a boxed set, a 2-disc set is one movie, that has so many extras, that it can't fit on just one DVD. And this years nominees are - Se7en, MIB, ID4, The Abyss, T2 The Ultimate DVD. And the DVD Award goes to T2 the Ultimate DVD . If you are looking for a complete movie trilogy, or any two or more movies combined into one package, for one low price, then a boxed set is the way to go. The nominees for the year 2000 are - The Sopranos - The Complete First Season, Scream Trilogy - Boxed Set, Toy Story The Ultimate Toy Box, Fantasia Anthology, The X-Files - The Complete Second Season. And the winner is - Toy Story The Ultimate Toy Box Ok, these may not have been the worst DVD's but the move on the disc, well lets just say we could have done without them. And the 2000 nominees are - Supernova, Magnolia, The Astronauts Wife, Eyes Wide Shut, Nutty Professor II The Klumps . And the winner is (or in this category really the loser is)... Supernova This is one of the hardest categories to pick with all of the movies released to DVD this year, we decided to stick with "new" movies released for the first time in any format over the past year. The nominees are - X-men, Gladiator, The Sixth Sense, American Beauty, The Green Mile. And the winner of the year 2000 Yanman award for best film is American Beauty |
T2 -The Ultimate Edition DVD This is a must have, and has floated to the number 1 position of all of our Top 10 DVD lists.
